Dreamweaver is a tool that is used for creating websites. It can be difficult to learn it when you’re new to web design, HTML or even the program. When you launch the tool, you will see numerous tools, and this might seem very overwhelming.
Here, I will showcase the tools which are helpful to beginners and also seasoned web designers.
The primary functionality of Dreamweaver is to create HTML & CSS while also managing files. Its GUI or graphical user interface helps you achieve these things quickly.
1. Code highlighting
2. Code suggestion
As you start typing an HTML tag, it will list every available tag which allows you to type the tag’s first letter then select it from a list. This is useful for attributes, too.
3. Code and design view
Dreamweaver gives you the opportunity to code and to see what it is creating. You can switch from the code view and design view.
4. Code validation
With Dreamweaver’s built-in code validation tool, there is no excuse for any designer to write non-standard codes.
The mistakes are found easily, and any accessibility issue is highlighted when coding.
5. Properties bar
This helps to create links, to bold or italicize texts, or to create ordered and unordered lists quickly.
6. Find and replace
Aside from being able to find and replace in a current page, you are also able to do this for an entire site.
7. File manager
The file manager makes the tool more than only a code editor. After you set-up the site root, it creates the file relationships.
It also connects to a server, so it instantly uploads files after saving. You can also view files remotely or work directly from a server.
You can build a single page with an overall layout and functionality for the entire site then turn it to a template.
It is easier to tab across different files you are working on. This is helpful when referencing pages or moving content.
BrowserLab is now integrated to CS5 which means that you are able to check the design prior to launch.
DW also populates the live view with the information from the database, which brings local code in front of your eyes.
If you intend to know more, take a Dreamweaver training to get you fully equipped and familiar with the runs of this tool.
